MICHAEL SHERMAN

CHOREOGRAPHER / DANCER

Michael formed Irreverence Dance + Theatre (now Innervation Dance Cooperative) in 1998. He has excitedly watched as IDC has become a respected member of the Chicago Dance Community. Michael earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre: Acting from the University of Akron and a Master of Arts in Dance: Choreography from The Ohio State University. While at OSU, Michael was the department costumer and danced in pieces by Marc Morris and Bridgeman/Packer. He has been described by New York Times Dance Critic Jennifer Dunning as "... a fearless firebrand with an insatiable appetite for movement." Michael has been a working dancer, singer, actor, and choreographer for over 20 years, working with such organizations as Emergence, Coyle and Company, Zivoli, The Children's Theatre Fantasy Orchard, Circle Theatre, The House of Blues, The Anatomical Theatre and The Goodman Theatre. He was dance curator for the Around the Coyote Festival for seven years and has met dancers from across America and around the world. Michael has taught at The Ohio State University, The College of DuPage, and is now the Registrar at Resurrection University.
